President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron will sign two agreements to allocate €650 million in loans and donations to Ukraine. These funds will support Ukrainian local authorities and critical infrastructure, including energy.
This is reported by the French edition Le Monde with reference to the Elysee Palace, Hromadske reports.
The Elysee Palace noted that the first agreement provides for the allocation of €400 million in loans and €50 million in donations to the French Development Agency by 2027 to “expand its activities in Ukraine.” This will support the energy and transportation sectors in Ukraine, in particular, the development of “administrative capacity.”
The second agreement will create a €200 million “support fund” for critical infrastructure. The funding will support French companies in upcoming tenders in the energy, transportation, water and sanitation, healthcare, and agriculture sectors.
“These funds will be used to finance important projects, strengthen or supplement faulty energy infrastructure,” – the Elysee Palace added.
Zelenskyy and Macron are expected to sign the agreements on June 7.
As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be on a visit to France on June 6. There, he plans to attend an event marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy during World War II.
