The European Union has imposed sanctions on seven people and the same number of organizations involved in Iran’s transfer of missiles and drones to Russia, Babel reports.
This was informed by the Council of the European Union.
The restrictions were imposed on those responsible for the development and transfer of drones, missiles, and related technologies to Russia to support its war against Ukraine, as well as to armed groups and organizations that undermine peace and security in the Middle East.
According to the Council of the European Union, three Iranian airlines are involved: Saha Airlines, Mahan Air and Iran Air, and two procurement firms. They are responsible for the transfer and supply of weapons through transnational procurement networks. The sanctions list also includes two companies that produce fuel for launching missiles and shells.
Sanctions were also imposed against Iran’s Deputy Defense Minister Seyed Hamzeh Ghalandari, officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the IRGC’s central headquarters Khatam al-Anbia, and the IRGC Aerospace Forces, as well as directors of Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries and Aerospace Industries Organization.
All sanctioned individuals and organizations have their assets frozen and are banned from entering the European Union. They also cannot receive funds or other economic resources.
