Emmanuel Macron to attend Ukrainian Peace Summit in Switzerland

French President Emmanuel Macron will take part in the Global Peace Summit to be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland.

Le Monde reports this with reference to the Elysee Palace’s statement, according to Suspilne.

The French president’s administration notes that France intends to provide Ukraine with “political and diplomatic support”. It is also going to confirm long-term military support.

“Ukraine hopes to gain broad international support at the summit by putting forward the conditions it considers necessary to end the war with Russia”, — the publication added.

Global Peace Summit

On January 15, during a visit to Switzerland, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the two countries were beginning preparations for the Global Peace Summit at the level of leaders.

On April 10, it became known that Switzerland would host the Global Peace Summit, initiated by Ukraine. The summit will take place on June 15-16 at the Burgenstock resort in the canton of Nidwalden, near the city of Lucerne.

The key topic of the summit will be the Ukrainian formula for peace and ways to resolve the war unleashed by Russia.

So far, Ukraine has received confirmation from 107 countries and organizations of their participation in the Summit. Ukraine invited all countries that support or do not support Ukraine. The aim is to hear everyone’s opinion in order to end the war.

The Summit will be a platform for dialogue on ways to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
