The Danish government has announced the 19th aid package to Ukraine worth more than $170 million (DKK 1.2 billion), which will support the Ukrainian defense industry, purchase equipment for F-16 fighter jets, and produce military equipment in the short and long term.
This was reported by the Danish Ministry of Defense, Babel writes.
According to Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, with this package, Copenhagen provides “the maximum possible support for Ukraine’s needs on the battlefield here and now.”
“We have created a Danish model of donations through the Ukrainian defense industry, which will help to increase Ukrainian production of military equipment in the short and long term”, — said Mr. Poulsen.
The Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine added that this assistance from Denmark will significantly strengthen the Ukrainian army. Moreover, since the funds will remain in Ukraine, it will also strengthen the Ukrainian economy.
The aid package from Denmark makes it possible to use the $170 million in a way that will quickly meet the needs of the Ukrainian army. The mechanism for implementing this aid was agreed at the Ramstein meeting last week and is set out in a memorandum signed by the Ministry of Strategic Industries and the Ministry of Defense with the Danish Ministry of Defense. The first procurement is expected to start this summer.
In April 2024, Denmark was the first country to allocate money for the purchase of weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Ukrainian manufacturers. The Ministry of Strategic Industries explained that the Ukrainian defense industry has already accelerated and grown so much that the Ukrainian budget cannot fully load manufacturers with orders.
