China supports an early ceasefire and a “political settlement” in the war between Ukraine and Russia.
This was stated at a briefing by a representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, a Suspilne correspondent reports.
Regarding the crisis in Ukraine, China supports an early ceasefire and a political settlement. Serving the interests of all parties, China will continue to stand by peace and dialogue, support international cooperation in reaching a greater consensus, and provide a viable way out of the request for a political settlement, – she said.
Mao Ning also said that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who is on a visit to China, will hold talks with his counterpart Wang Yi to implement the “important consensus” of the presidents of both countries and deepen bilateral cooperation on issues of “mutual interest”.
On July 22, it was announced that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba would pay a three-day visit to China from July 23-25.
In addition, before the trip, he recorded a video in which he addressed the users of the
Chinese social network Weibo.
This will be my first visit to your country as Foreign Minister. We will discuss important issues: restoring peace, deepening our bilateral relations, expanding trade and economic cooperation. I am convinced that this cooperation is beneficial for China and the Chinese people. We can achieve a lot if we work together, – Kuleba said.
In late June, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with Wu Hongbo, the Chinese government’s special representative for European affairs, on the sidelines of the Dubrovnik Forum in Croatia.
