U.S. President Joe Biden promised to stay in the presidential race during a phone call with his campaign staff and meetings with Democratic lawmakers and governors.
Reuters writes about this with reference to two informed sources, Babel informs.
Biden emphasized that he was not going anywhere.
No one is pushing me out. I am not leaving. I’m in this race to the end, – Biden said in a separate email sent by his campaign.
In addition, Biden urged supporters to “put a few bucks in” to help defeat his Republican rival Donald Trump in the November 5 presidential election.
Also, on the evening of July 3, Biden held virtual and in-person meetings with 24 Democratic governors and the mayor of Washington, DC. He wanted to reassure them that he was ready to serve as the party’s “standard-bearer” after his unsuccessful performance in the debate with Trump. After that, only three governors – the leaders of New York, Minnesota, and Maryland – met with journalists, pledging to support Biden after what they called an honest discussion about his poor performance during last week’s debate.
The president has always had our backs. We will have his back as well, – said Maryland Governor Wes Moore.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, said that Biden’s performance at the debate against Trump “was poor”, but he believes that Biden is fit to be president of the United States.
White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre also said that Biden is not considering dropping out of the presidential race.
