China has sharply criticized the NATO summit declaration, accusing Beijing of supporting Russia in its war against Ukraine.
According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, the claim that China is responsible for the Ukrainian war is unfounded, Radiosvoboda reports.
He also added that NATO is spreading false information created by the United States to sow discord between China and Europe and undermine their cooperation.
Regarding the crisis in Ukraine, NATO exaggerates China’s responsibility. This is ridiculous and is done with malicious intent, – said a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The day before, NATO leaders said in a joint declaration that China is a “decisive factor” in Russia’s war against Ukraine, as Beijing’s “boundless” partnership with Moscow and its “extensive support for Russia’s defense industrial base” allow Moscow to wage war.
Representatives of the alliance called on Beijing to “cease all material and political support for Russia’s military efforts”.
According to Western media, during the war in Ukraine, China has become Russia’s main supplier of goods needed for various weapons, including missiles. For example, the Financial Times wrote that in 2023, 90% of chips imported by Russia came from China and were used in the production of missiles, tanks, and airplanes.
The Chinese authorities, in turn, claim that they do not provide weapons to any of the parties to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which they call the “Ukrainian crisis”.
