US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin intends to discuss with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov the plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in connection with the attack on the Kursk region, Suspilne reports.

Deputy Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh said this at a briefing when asked whether the Ukrainian Armed Forces plan to hold their positions in the Kursk region or intend to launch a broader offensive.

According to her, these are issues that the United States is working on together with Ukraine.

I don’t have the answers to all of these questions right now, but Secretary Austin is going to discuss with Minister Umerov in the coming days, and then we will have more information. But I think Ukraine should really talk about their goals and objectives, and that’s still something we’re trying to learn from them about how this (the Ukrainian offensive in Kursk region – ed.) fits into their strategic operations, – Singh said.

At the same time, the Pentagon spokesperson emphasized that the United States’ support for Ukraine remains unwavering.

We will continue to provide assistance packages. I can’t announce it today, but we will continue to support Ukraine in its struggle and in whatever it needs to succeed, – Singh said.

She noted that Austin will be communicating with Ukraine on the issue of whether they “plan to hold” the territories.
