149 Drones and 11 Missiles: Russia Attacks Ukraine Overnight Killing Civilians

During the night of February 8–9, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with ballistic missiles and strike drones. Civilians were injured in several regions, and fatalities were reported.

Consequences of the Overnight Strike across Ukraine

Russia carried out a massive drone strike on Odesa. One man was killed, and two people were injured. The Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that a fire broke out after a drone hit the area, and emergency services extinguished it. Residential buildings and cars were damaged.

In the Kharkiv region, Russia attacked 10 settlements. Two people were killed, including a child, and six others were injured. Russian forces used multiple types of weapons, including guided aerial bombs and various strike drones. Homes and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.

In the Chernihiv region, Russian forces attacked overnight with Geran drones. One man was killed, and four people were wounded. Houses were destroyed, and power lines were damaged.

Residents of the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions were also affected. In the Volyn region, a high-voltage substation was damaged. As of the morning of February 9, more than 80,000 households in the Novovolynsk community and nearby areas were left without electricity. According to the mayor of Novovolynsk, critical infrastructure in the city is currently operating on generators.

160 Air Targets Overnight

Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 160 aerial attack weapons overnight. These included 11 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 149 strike drones, including Shahed-type drones, Gerbera, Italmas, and others. Ukrainian forces shot down or suppressed 116 enemy drones and intercepted part of the missile attacks.

Russian strikes on Ukraine continue regularly, with cities across the country coming under attack from various types of weapons.

Previously, The Ukrainian Review reported on another overnight attack against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure on February 7, when Russia launched 447 aerial attack weapons, hitting 19 locations and causing large-scale power outages.
