President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will pay a working visit to Spain on Monday, May 27. This was reported by the Reuters agency, Hromadske informs.
It is noted that Volodymyr Zelenskyy will arrive in Spain in Madrid, where he plans to meet with the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez, and after him – with King Philip VI.
As reported in the press service of the government of Spain, the President of Ukraine is scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez in Madrid. And after the meeting, they should hold a press conference at 12:00 local time.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy was supposed to visit Spain in mid-May, but the trip at that time had to be canceled due to the beginning of the Russian offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region.
As Reuters writes, it was expected that Ukraine and Spain would sign a bilateral security agreement.
What are these security agreements?
In 2023, at the July NATO summit in Vilnius, the leaders of the “Big Seven” (G7) agreed on a Joint Declaration on support for Ukraine.
Each country stated that they will work with Ukraine on specific bilateral long-term obligations and agreements in the field of security. In its turn, Ukraine undertook reforms.
More than 20 countries have joined this initiative. Great Britain was the first country to sign the final agreement.
Since then, bilateral security agreements with Ukraine have also been signed by Canada, Latvia, Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland and other countries.
