German Minister of Economy and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck said that Berlin will continue to support Ukraine no matter what. Even if Donald Trump returns to power in the United States and blocks aid to Ukraine, Hromadske reports.
He said this in an interview with the Berliner Morgenpost. The official emphasized that Germany would provide assistance to Ukraine “without any ifs and buts”.
When asked whether Germany would continue to support Ukraine if the United States stopped helping it, for example, under the presidency of Donald Trump, he replied: “Yes. We will not leave Ukraine alone”.
At the end of 2024, the Vice Chancellor reminded that Ukraine will receive 50 billion euros in loans from frozen Russian assets. If this does not happen, Ukraine will have to “look for other ways”.
Earlier, a number of German media outlets reported that official Berlin would no longer provide military assistance to Ukraine due to the lack of funds in the budget. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine denied such reports, calling them “incorrect” and “manipulative”.
Against the backdrop of these reports, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured of Berlin’s continued support for Ukraine.
On August 19, it was announced that Berlin would provide a new aid package for Ukraine. It includes a new air defense system, drones, rifles, and shells.
