US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has announced a new $250 million aid package for Ukraine, Hromadske reports.
He said this during a speech before the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense in the Ramstein format.
U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to approve this additional aid package on September 6. According to Austin, this military package will increase capabilities to meet Ukraine’s growing needs.
It will expand capabilities to meet Ukraine’s evolving needs. And we will deliver them at war speed, – Lloyd Austin said.
At the same time, Austin did not say what the new aid package would include.
Today, on September 6, the 24th meeting in the Ramstein format to help Ukraine is taking place at the air base in Germany.
During his visit, the Head of State will meet with US and German Defense Ministers Lloyd Austin and Boris Pistorius, and will also hold separate talks with Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
We need the determination of our partners and the means to stop Russian air terror. We require all the weapons from the already announced support packages to finally reach the combat brigades. And we require strong, long-range decisions from our partners to bring the just peace we seek closer, – Zelenskyy said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the meeting would discuss “long-range decisions of partners”, referring to the permission to strike targets in Russia with long-range weapons.
