The defense forces used British Challenger 2 tanks during an operation in the Kursk region of Russia.
This was informed by Sky News, citing a source, Hromadske reports.
In turn, the governments of the United Kingdom and Ukraine have not yet commented on this. However, if this is confirmed, it will be the first time that British tanks operated by Ukrainian soldiers have been used in combat in Russia.
The British Ministry of Defense refused to comment on operational details. However, they did note that “there has been no change in policy”. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also did not comment on the issue.
In line with government policy, the UK has confirmed that Ukraine can freely use British weapons in Russia. According to the source, this also applies to Challenger 2 tanks, which were used in the offensive on Russian territory.
Details on how and when the Ukrainian forces deployed Challenger 2 tanks in Kursk region and their number are unknown.
According to the newspaper, the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade had previously used these tanks. Now it is known that the brigade’s units are participating in the Kursk operation.
