The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the strikes on Russian targets. During the night of May 5, Ukrainian forces attacked the VNIIR-Progress plant in Cheboksary, located in Russia’s Chuvash Republic.

The facility produces GNSS receivers and antennas for satellite systems such as GLONASS, GPS, and Galileo. Among them are adaptive antenna arrays known as “Kometa.” Russian forces use these components in Shahed drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as in unified planning and correction modules for aerial bombs. In other words, this equipment supports high-precision weapons that Russia uses to strike Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

In addition, Ukrainian forces targeted infrastructure at the Kirishi oil refinery in Russia’s Leningrad region. A fire broke out at the site. The refinery plays a role in supplying the Russian military, and authorities are still assessing the extent of the damage.

Ukrainian strikes also hit a field fuel and lubricant depot in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region, as well as a logistics warehouse in occupied Donetsk region. In Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian forces attacked a Russian command and observation post along with a Kasta radar station.

Zelensky’s response

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media that long-range measures “continue to provide an entirely just response to Russian strikes.”

“Last night, combat launches of F-5 Flamingo cruise missiles were carried out as part of the Armed Forces’ Deep Strike operation against several enemy targets, including military-industrial complex facilities in Cheboksary,” Zelensky wrote.

He added that the missiles covered a distance more than 1,500 kilometers. The targeted facility produced relay protection systems, automation equipment, and low-voltage devices. It also supplied navigation components for Russia’s navy, missile industry, aviation, and armored vehicles.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine has already presented its proposal to end the war. Now, he said, Russia must move toward real diplomacy.

Earlier, The Ukrainian Review reported that during the night of May 5, Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones. In the Poltava region, five people were killed, including two emergency service workers.
