Ukraine and Latvia to cooperate in cyberspace

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds and Head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection Yuriy Mironenko have signed a memorandum of understanding on cybersecurity.

This document establishes a legal framework for cooperation between the countries, which allows for the effective use of human and technical resources in the field of cybersecurity, Babel reports.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Latvia, under the memorandum, Ukraine and Latvia will exchange information on potential cyber threats and share experience in combating cyber incidents. 

The countries will also cooperate in the following areas: education, research and innovation, organization of joint public events, etc.

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds emphasized the importance of this cooperation, noting that cooperation in cybersecurity between the countries is important – during the war, Ukraine gained valuable experience that it can share with Latvia. This will help the latter to strengthen its resilience and increase its preparedness both in peacetime and in crisis situations.
