Sweden plans to provide Ukraine with one of the largest defense aid packages. It will include air defense systems, radars, electronic warfare equipment, and drones. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this following a conversation between Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and his Swedish counterpart, Pål Jonson. The ministers reviewed the scale and importance of the package for Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

During the talks, the ministers also discussed the details of the aid package. The supplies will include radars and air defense systems from the Swedish company Saab. In addition, the package will provide resources for Ukraine’s defense industry. This includes additional electronic warfare systems and strike drones, including deep strike. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense emphasized that these tools are essential to strengthen Ukraine’s security.
Key Areas of Cooperation
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said the talks focused on strengthening air defense and countering ballistic threats from Russia. Ukraine and Sweden are coordinating additional deliveries under the PURL initiative. This program aims to equip Ukrainian forces with critical tools to intercept Russian missiles.
Furthermore, the ministers discussed cooperation in defense technology. The Brave1 cluster is considering the creation of the Brave–Sweden program. It would co-finance defense projects, attract grant funding, and test innovative solutions directly in combat conditions.
In addition, Ukraine and Sweden are coordinating the accelerated launch of joint production facilities. These facilities will produce Ukrainian security solutions on Swedish territory. The talks also covered aviation support. They discussed the possible supply of Gripen fighter jets and Meteor missiles. These missiles can be used against aircraft carrying guided bombs.
Earlier, The Ukrainian Review reported that the Ukrainian military entered the top 20 strongest armies in the world out of 145 countries.
