Sweden and Denmark have jointly ordered Tridon Mk2 air defense systems for Ukraine, worth almost €246 million. Sweden’s Defence Minister, Pål Jonson, announced this during a press conference with his Danish counterpart, reports Swedish news outlet SVT.

Jonson said the Tridon Mk2 air defense systems can intercept drones, cruise missiles, and helicopters. They will help Ukraine protect critical infrastructure and keep civilians safe. He added that Tridon Mk2 was developed quickly and meets the modern needs of both Ukraine and Sweden. The ministers stressed that protecting energy and civilian infrastructure is critical because of Russia’s intense winter attacks.
Delivery and Funding
The equipment is already in production. Ukraine will receive the systems directly. One air defense battalion, with up to 1,000 personnel, will be able to operate fully. The funding is shared between the two countries: Sweden contributes almost €200 million, and Denmark provides more than €40 million.
The ministers said the joint purchase shows strong cooperation between the two countries and their support for Ukraine against Russian aggression. They also noted that stronger air defense will improve the security of critical infrastructure and boost Ukraine’s military capabilities.
Jonson added that Ukraine needs modern air defense to counter long-range missile strikes and aerial attacks on major cities. He stressed that the cooperation between Sweden and Denmark shows Europe’s unity in supporting Ukraine.
Earlier, The Ukrainian Review reported that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte assured during his Kyiv visit that the Alliance continues working with member states to supply Ukraine with additional missiles for its air defense systems.
