President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported the details of the strike. He emphasized that the enemy continues to invest in terror:

“The main goal of the enemy attacks remained Ukraine’s energy sector, but residential buildings and infrastructure also suffered. In particular, there is damage to the railway.”

Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba stated that the enemy hit railway hubs in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions. Two locomotives were damaged, though train operations continue without interruption.

Consequences in regions

The Kyiv region faced the most severe impact during the night. A 49-year-old man died in the Fastiv district following a direct hit. Rescuers pulled eight people, including a child, from the rubble of destroyed buildings. In the Bucha district, three private houses were completely leveled. Overall, five districts in the region reported damage to residential sectors and farm buildings. In Kyiv, debris fell in four districts, leading to the hospitalization of a woman and a child.

Other regions of Ukraine also came under fire. In the Mykolaiv region, a transport infrastructure facility was damaged. In the Poltava region, drone debris damaged private property. The Kirovohrad region’s administrative center was also hit, with emergency services currently assessing the scale of destruction. Additionally, explosions were heard in Kremenchuk, where the enemy used ballistic weaponry and missiles.

Urgent need for ballistic missile defense

The Ukrainian defense forces demonstrated high efficiency, neutralizing 307 targets. This total includes 274 enemy UAVs and 33 missiles, including Zircon hypersonic missiles. However, during this week alone, Russia launched over 1,300 drones, 1,400 aerial bombs, and 96 missiles against Ukraine. Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine requires enhanced air defense systems, especially those capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. Every military aid package helps protect critical infrastructure and save lives.

Previously, The Ukrainian Review reported that Russian forces launched another massive attack amid freezing temperatures, using hundreds of strike drones and dozens of missiles.
