Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again accused Ukraine of not wanting to end the war. Putin said that Russia has not abandoned peace talks, but first, according to Putin, it is necessary to “deal with the bandits who have entered the territory of the Russian Federation”, Suspilne reports.
Putin said this during an open lesson at the Kyzyl school in the Republic of Tuva.
Ukraine is not interested in ending the hostilities, its authorities are afraid of losing the elections after the lifting of martial law, – Putin said.
In addition, Putin called the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operation in Kursk region an attempt to stop the Russian army’s offensive and said he would “deal” with the “bandits” in Kursk region. He said that “Ukraine’s plan to stop the offensive in Donbas failed” and that the Russian army “has not seen such a pace of offensive” for “a long time”. According to Putin, today the Russian army is allegedly seizing territory not by “200-300 meters, but by square kilometers”.
Putin also complained that in Ukraine, as he stated, “they began to suppress everything related to the Russian language and culture, began to create an anti-Russian enclave”.
On September 3, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin plans to visit Mongolia at the invitation of President Ukhnagiin Khurelsukh.
According to Bloomberg, citing two sources with knowledge of the preparations for the visit, before traveling to Mongolia, Putin received guarantees that he would not be arrested under an ICC warrant.
As President Zelenskyy noted during a press conference at the “Ukraine 2024. Independence” forum on August 27, Russian President Putin does not want a diplomatic end to the war.
With Putin, it’s not about compromises, with Putin, in principle, the dialogue today is empty, meaningless. Because he does not want a diplomatic end to the war. That is, he is ready to diplomatically end the war, but to give him 30% of our land, – Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy explained that he does not believe that Ukraine is currently in a situation where it should compromise.
As for the presence of Russian representatives at the second summit, this is the desire of all countries. They believe that this may be the end of the war. That is why we wanted them to be absent from the first summit. And we managed to do it – to bring together countries without Russian representatives, – the president said at the time.
He added that Ukraine would prepare a plan, and “representatives of Russia, if they want to be present at the second summit, they will be present”. Zelenskyy also said that “otherwise we may lose many countries at the second summit”.
