Ultimatum to authorities: demand for resignations

Magyar said he expects current officials linked to the previous government to step down:

“We expect Orban’s puppets to resign… May 31 is the deadline.”

He added that the new government could use legal mechanisms to remove them if they refuse.

Druzhba pipeline and relations with Ukraine

Magyar urged President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to restore the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline:

“I would not advise the Ukrainian president to go down this path,” he said, warning against potential “blackmail” in negotiations with the EU.

At the same time, he said Hungary will not block the EU’s €90 billion loan for Ukraine but will not participate in it.

Oschadbank case: cautious stance

Magyar also commented on the situation involving seized funds of Ukraine’s Oschadbank, saying there is not enough reliable information:

“We do not know what actually happened… we have also seen propaganda reports.”

He said he is ready to discuss the issue after officially taking office.

Position on the ICC and Netanyahu

The incoming prime minister said Hungary must fulfill its obligations to the International Criminal Court, including the potential arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the country:

“If a country is a member of the ICC… that person must be detained,” Magyar said.

He also pledged to halt Hungary’s withdrawal process from the ICC initiated by the previous government.

Context

Magyar made these statements after winning the election, signaling a possible shift in Hungary’s domestic and foreign policy following years of rule by Viktor Orban.

Earlier, The Ukrainian Review reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to discuss the issue of seized Oschadbank funds with Peter Magyar.
