Kamala Harris raises a record $81 million in the first day of her campaign

23.07.2024

Vice President Kamala Harris has raised $81 million in the first 24 hours since she was announced as a presidential candidate. Her campaign called it a record, Babel writes.

Harris’ representatives said that 880 thousand donors contributed to her campaign on the first day and 43 thousand of them agreed to make regular contributions.

This money raised will give Kamala Harris the opportunity to compete with Donald Trump, who has been receiving large sums of money in recent weeks. In addition, he raised $50 million in the first 24 hours of his campaign.

Thanks to the support of US President Joe Biden, Kamala Harris’s campaign has probably “inherited” tens of millions of dollars that his team had previously raised. At the end of June, Kamala Harris reported almost $96 million in cash in the bank for the Biden campaign.

On Sunday, July 21, the Biden campaign, or rather Harris, filed new documents with the Federal Election Commission, indicating that Kamala Harris is the primary candidate of the Democratic Party.

This year’s US presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024. It will be the 60th presidential election in the country’s history, and the 47th president of the United States will be elected.
