President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could influence the end of the war in Ukraine.
He said this in an interview with the Times of India newspaper, Suspilne reports.
Modi is the prime minister of a truly huge country in terms of population, economy, and influence. Such a country cannot simply say that we are interested in ending the war – we are all interested in this. Prime Minister Modi can influence the end of the war with Ukraine. This is his enormous value in any conflict. This is a huge value of India, – Zelenskyy said.
According to him, blocking the Russian economy, blocking cheap energy resources, blocking Russia’s military-industrial complex “will lead to a decrease in Moscow’s ability to wage war against us”.
The president also allowed for the possibility of holding talks between Ukraine and Russia in India.
Undoubtedly, it can be in India, and Prime Minister Modi can really do it. But I think that we need to prepare ourselves and only in accordance with our format, because the war is on our land. We have a platform – the Peace Summit, – he said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the recently unveiled Victory Plan and NATO membership are intended to strengthen Ukraine’s position for future negotiations.
The Victory Plan is not a bargaining chip or a topic of negotiations with Russia… That we are asking for an invitation to NATO so that no one can change their mind in the future, – the president said.
He also called on Modi to help return Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia.
You can force Putin to return Ukrainian children… Prime Minister Modi can use his influence and tell Putin, just give me 1000 Ukrainian children who will be returned to Ukraine. Let Prime Minister Modi return at least 1000 Ukrainian children, – Zelenskyy said.
It is worth recalling that on September 24 in New York, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
