German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said military cooperation with Ukraine brings practical advantages for Berlin. During a meeting with government and defence industry representatives from both countries, he stressed that Germany actively adopts Ukrainian experience in drones and cyber defence.

Pistorius said Ukraine has rapidly developed a high level of technological adaptability due to the war. He highlighted progress in drone production and cybersecurity systems. He added that Ukrainian teams create these solutions directly in combat conditions, which makes them especially valuable for partners.
The minister also announced plans to expand defence cooperation. Germany will send additional military attachés to its embassy in Kyiv to coordinate cooperation.
Germany’s Economy Ministry is preparing to open a dedicated office to support companies working with Ukraine in the defence sector.
Berlin also confirmed long-term financial commitments. Germany plans to provide €11.6 billion to Ukraine in 2027. It also plans to allocate €8.5 billion annually through 2030.

The statements reflect a broader shift, as Ukraine evolves from an aid recipient into a partner in defence innovation. German officials already acknowledge that Ukrainian developments in drones and digital defence are becoming competitive on the global market.
Ukraine and Germany recently signed an agreement to exchange digital battlefield data for the development of new weapons systems.
