On May 19, the Defense Forces of Ukraine reported the destruction of the Russian naval minesweeper of the Black Sea Fleet RF 266-M “Kovrovets”.

“The Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with their comrades, continue to bring us closer to Victory,” – the Navy of Ukraine reported. It is currently unknown how the ship was destroyed.
“Kovrovets” is a Russian sea minesweeper of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation of project 266-M, designed for trawling ships and vessels, as well as reconnaissance, laying fairways in minefields, etc.
This minesweeper entered the Soviet fleet on November 8, 1974. From July 1982, it was called “Kursky Komsomolets”. And in 1992, he received the name “Gunner”. It got its current name in 1999.
In 2016, “Kovrovets” was involved during the Russian intervention in Syria. In January 2017, he joined the permanent operational unit of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that Ukraine allegedly struck the occupied Crimea with ATACMS operational-tactical missiles and drones. The air defense forces of the Russian Federation allegedly shot down 9 ATACMS missiles and one drone over the occupied peninsula.
As of May 19, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian forces destroyed 29 ships and boats of the Russian Federation.
In addition, on the morning of May 20, the head of the Strategic Communications Center of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, announced on the air of the national telethon “Edyny novyny” that there is a possibility that the Black Sea Fleet of Russia in the occupied Crimea lost the last carrier of cruise missiles – “Zyklon”.
