Belarus has stated that the country will be ready to use non-strategic nuclear weapons in the event of a threat to its sovereignty and independence.
This was stated by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic Muraveiko Pavel in an interview with Channel 24.
According to him, the Belarusian army is trained to use nuclear weapons.
Belarus threatens with nuclear weapons
In March 2023, Putin said that Moscow would deploy its tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus at Minsk’s request.
One of the latest arguments and theses that act as a deterrent is the return of non-strategic nuclear weapons to the territory of our country, — Muraveiko said.
Last year, on June 16, Putin said that the first Russian nuclear warheads had already been delivered to Belarus, and the entire batch would arrive by the end of 2023. Already at the end of April 2024, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Russia had deployed several dozen nuclear warheads in Belarus.
We know how to confidently use them (nuclear weapons). We are capable of doing so. And we will do so if our country’s sovereignty and independence are threatened, — the Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Army emphasized.
In addition, Lukashenko’s armed forces have recently complained that Ukraine is allegedly “pulling troops and weapons to the border”. They even claimed that Western countries are allegedly trying to “drag Belarus into a war”.
