U.S. President Joe Biden has spoken with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussing Modi’s recent visits to Ukraine and Poland, Espreso reports.
According to the White House statement, Biden thanked the Indian prime minister for his “historic visits” to Poland and Ukraine, the first visits by an Indian prime minister in decades, for his “message of peace” and humanitarian support for Ukraine, including its energy sector.
The leaders reaffirmed their continued support for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in accordance with international law based on the UN Charter, – the statement said.
At the same time, Biden and Modi emphasized their continued commitment to working together, including through regional groups such as Quad, to promote peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
On Friday, August 23, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the capital of Ukraine. He met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who said that one of the topics of their conversation was the Peace Summit.
Later, it became known that Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in favor of holding the second Peace Summit in one of the countries of the Global South and suggested that it be held in India. But Ukraine cannot host the Peace Summit in a country that did not join the communiqué of the first summit.
