The Republic of Mauritius (East Africa) has joined the communiqué of the Global Peace Summit, which was held in Switzerland from June 15 to 16 this year, Suspilne reports.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on the social network X.
I am grateful to the Republic of Mauritius for joining this historic document. All of our nations require a lasting, comprehensive, and just peace. We value that Mauritius is among those African countries that consistently demonstrates respect for the UN Charter and international law, – he said.
Zelenskyy also emphasized that Ukraine is ready to work with all peace-loving states to develop a joint peace framework based on the Peace Formula as a basis for ending Russian aggression.
What is known about the Peace Summit
On June 15-16, a two-day Global Peace Summit was held in Burgenstock, Switzerland, at the initiative of Ukraine. The summit was attended by representatives of Ukraine, 92 states and 8 international organizations.
Following the summit, a declaration with three main points was signed in Switzerland:
Nuclear safety. The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant should operate under Ukraine’s control, and threats with nuclear weapons are unacceptable.
Global food security. Access to seaports on the Black and Azov Seas must be ensured.
All prisoners of war and illegally detained civilians must be released, and deported children must be returned.
