US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he might meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will be in the United States next week, Suspilne reports.
Trump said this during a conversation with journalists, Reuters reports.
Journalists asked Trump if he intends to meet with the Ukrainian president, to which he replied: “I think so”. However, Trump did not give any other details.
Earlier, Reuters reported, citing the Slovenian mission to the UN, that Volodymyr Zelenskyy was to address the Security Council on September 24.
As a reminder, during the debate, Donald Trump promised that if he won, he would end the war in Ukraine within a few days, even before he took office again. He did not say how he intended to do this.
Many American and European politicians fear that Trump’s victory in the presidential election could lead to the end or reduction of American aid to Ukraine. Others believe that Trump will try to persuade Kyiv to negotiate with Russia on unfavorable terms.
